Flambeau State Forest

The Flambeau River State Forest was officially established in 1930. Its real beginning dates back to the early part of this century when sincere conservationists felt the need to preserve for future generations some part of our rapidly dwindling timber stands. At present, there are over 90,000 acres of land in the Flambeau State Forest available for multiple uses.

The center attraction of the forest is the 50 miles of Flambeau River in the heart of this wilderness area, offering the canoeist a trip not soon forgotten. Camping and swimming can be enjoyed at Conners Lake and Lake of the Pines Campgrounds.

For the sportsman who like to hunt and fish, the opportunities are unlimited. If it's winter sports you desire, 22 miles of cross-county ski trails and 44 miles of snowmobile trails. There are also 38 miles of ATV trails, 14 miles of mountain bike trails, 2 campgrounds, over 70 miles of river with premier white water canoeing, 34 camp sites, canoe landings, and hunter walking trails.
