In 1896 the Park Falls Paper and Pulp Company began operations with one paper machine and a groundwood mill. Over the years a sulfite pulp mill, a deinking mill, and additional paper machines were constructed. Today, Flambeau River Papers makes over four hundered tons of paper a day on three paper machines while employing over three hundered people.
